Our summer high-altitude training camps kicked off in spectacular fashion with our July cohort! This camp was particularly special as a true family affair, with three running families joining us in Iten, the “Home of Champions.” Our dedicated team of Kenyan pacers did a brilliant job ensuring our youngest members always had a buddy on the trails, allowing parents and older siblings to push their own limits, knowing the whole family was safe, supported, and having the time of their lives.
July Camp at a Glance
- Dates: July 19th to August 1st, 2026, with runners joining us for 1 or 2 weeks.

Unforgettable Moments
- Meeting World Legends: Getting up close and personal with running royalty, including Jacob Kiplimo and Brigid Kosgei.
- Guest Speaker Peris Jepchirchir (Jorono): An inspiring talk with up-and-coming elite marathoner Peris Jepchirchir, who boasts an incredible 2:27 marathon PB.
- Brother Colm & St. Patrick’s: Touring the historic school and sitting down with the “Godfather of Kenyan Running,” whose legendary work turned Iten into the epicentre of world distance running.
- Mastering Form & Trails: Dialling in biomechanics during Kenyan drill sessions with our expert Vincent, tackling the humongous hills of Singore Forest, and joining the iconic local Thursday Fartlek.
- The Autumn Marathon Prep: Clocking an impressive 25km long run on the rolling dirt of Moiben Road for those gearing up for autumn races.
- Community & Safari: Taking a rest day safari at Lake Nakuru, visiting the Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF) to tour homes built for local families in need, and sharing a final celebration meal with the entire crew and pacer team.
From Our Runners
“Never a better experience!” ★★★★★
“We leave camp today and I just wanted to tell you what an amazing experience we had! It would be impossible to have better people running the show here. Willy and Emmanuel alone are some of the greatest people we have ever met… Coach Richard was fantastic, as well.
And I must give another special mention for Toni (photographer) who played with our kids and taught them Swahili throughout the trip. In fact, the whole camp made this such a special trip for our kids, seamlessly without detracting from the overall running experience for the other guests. The entire staff from pacers to kitchen and grounds crew were so friendly and accommodating. You guys all do great work and we are so happy to see how it integrates and helps the amazing people of Iten!”

“He returned more confident, with amazing memories and valuable training experience.” ★★★★★
“My 18-year-old son’s first trip abroad on his own was to a training camp with Kenya Experience, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience.
From the outset, the pre-trip information and communication were excellent, helping to reassure both him and us. The training programme was well organised and professionally run, providing a fantastic environment for young athletes to develop and challenge themselves.
The food and accommodation were excellent, and he was very well looked after throughout his stay. Alongside the training, there were cultural experiences and day trips which gave him a real insight into Kenyan life and made the trip even more memorable.
What stood out most was the care and support from the staff. As a first-time solo traveller, he was made to feel safe, welcome and supported at all times. When his flight was delayed, the team went above and beyond to ensure he was looked after and kept informed, which was greatly appreciated.
He returned more confident, with amazing memories and valuable training experience. We genuinely couldn’t fault Kenya Experience and would highly recommend them to any young person considering a training camp abroad.
Thank you to the whole Kenya Experience team for your professionalism, care and support.”

“Open friendly staff and excellent service” ★★★★★
My second time at the High Altitude Training Centre hosted by Kenya Experience did not disappoint. If anything there was more structure to the training and expert advice on what aspects should accommodate the various needs and capabilities of the people attending. The same open friendly staff and excellent service greeted us and attended to our needs over the whole 2 weeks. The whole group I was with gained a huge amount, so much so that at the end a number were overcome with emotion at having to leave and committed to return in the near future.
“What made it work was the diversity of it all—the activities, the culture and the wonderful people. Highly recommend!”
@kenya_experience_camps was more than just running. There’s the running itself—track sessions, road runs, trail runs, and Singore Forest (my favourite). Run-related activities included gym/core sessions, massages, swimming and coach corner presentations. Then there was the Saint Patrick’s School visit where we met coach O’Connell, the godfather of Kenyan running. The experiences that came with it: visits to town, waterfall hikes, Saturday markets, and mangoes. But what really struck me was being surrounded by running—you can’t avoid it, and you don’t want to. I’ll miss those early morning runs, the way breakfast tasted after them. What made it work was the diversity of it all—the activities, the culture and the wonderful people. Highly recommend!
