Getting to Iten: Flights and Transfers

The nearest airport to Iten is Eldoret International Airport (EDL), which is just about an hour’s drive from our camp, the High Altitude Training Centre (HATC). Most international travellers fly into Nairobi (NBO) first, then take a short domestic flight to Eldoret.

Our Booking Tips

We have found it’s best to purchase your international flights to Nairobi and domestic flights to Eldoret separately. Searching for both legs together can sometimes limit options or significantly increase the price

For that short domestic hop between Nairobi and Eldoret, the most reliable airline is Jambojet, and we recommend booking directly through their official website.

Airport Transfers

As part of your Kenya Experience camp, we will collect you from Eldoret Airport (EDL). Before your trip, we will email you so you can share arrival and departure details with us. We’ll then organise your airport transfers, ensuring a smooth and stress-free journey straight to the camp.

A member of our team will meet you at the arrival gates at Eldoret Airport. Look for our staff member wearing a red Kenya Experience T-shirt – they will be easy to spot!

Entry into Kenya: Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA)

You will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before you arrive, and travel within 90 days of your eTA being granted.

• When to Apply: Approximately eight weeks out from the camp.
• Application Portal: Please use the official Kenyan Government online portal: www.etakenya.go.ke.
• Timeline: Processing usually takes just a few days, but please do not leave it until the last minute in case of any delays!
• Once Authorised: Your eTA will appear on your online portal once issued; it won’t be emailed. Please download and print a copy to present at the immigration desk.

Details for Your eTA Application

You will need the following information for your application:

• Accommodation Address: High Altitude Training Centre (HATC), High Altitude Road, Iten, Kenya
• Hotel Reservation Letter: Eight weeks before your camp starts, we will email your ‘Hotel Reservation Letter’, which you can use to support your eTA application.
• Passport Details: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date.
• Additional Info: You will need a recent passport photo, flight itinerary, and contact information.
